You can use your Korean or foreign debit card at the ATM in the Hi Mart on the corner by the stop light.
T-Money card
This card can be purchased at the Hi Mart and loaded or reloaded there. Use it to pay for the bus, subway, and some taxis that are equipped. Red buses go to Seoul - 2000 won, Blue buses go either to Sunae/Soeyon #52 or to Migeum/Jeongja/Sunae #15 -- 1100 won.

Easy bus trips
15 & 52 pick up and drop off on the main road in the neighborhood and run about every 30 minutes Monday-Saturday, and every hour on Sunday. 15 goes by Migeum Station & the Jeongja area and then passes Sunae & Soyeon. 52 goes to Sunae & Soyeon and beyond.

A little longer trips on the 5500 bus
Catch the bus at the bus stop on the main road in front of the Chinese restaurant.
Meyong-dong - Get off the bus at the first stop after the tunnel. 2nd stop after the Han River. Myeong-dong is on your left with Paris Baquette at the corner, diagonal to the drop off stop. To return to Gungnae, take the 5500 bus heading back the way you came.
Insa-dong - Get off the bus at the next stop after Myeong-dong, which is immediately after the first left turn. Walk in the opposite direction the bus is headed and turn left at the corner. To return to Gungnae, get back on the 5500 where you got off, going in the same direction (towards Seoul). It will loop around and get you back to Gungnae. Or walk up the same street where you got off. Walk about 10 minutes to Myeong-dong and pop on the 5500.
Itaewon - take the 5500. Get off the first stop after the Han. Walkway bridges across the road let you know you are at the right spot. Hail a cab and tell the driver "Hamilton Hotel". That takes you to the heart of Itaewon. Cab fare - 2500 won. Going home. Hail a cab back and tell the driver. "Hanam-dong Bussa". Cab will follow the road and veer right and you should end up at the same area as where you got off. 5500 home. Some staff live in Itaewon and you can take the 110 bus instead of the cab.
To get to:
Home Plus: Take the 15, on the main street of the dong, to Migeum station then get in the subway to Ori station (1 stop). Leave the station at the Home Plus exit. Take the same way home or just walk to the station, cross the road and catch the first cab in line. Green light cab. Other lights cabs go in other areas. The cab home with groceries will cost a little more, but you will take you a lot longer to take a subway and then coordinate a bus to get you back. Carry your home address in Korean with you at all times.
E-Mart: Take the 1251 at the bus stop on the main road (heading away from KIS) and get off the bus at
Jukjeon station/
Shinshegae department store. or Take the 15 to Migeum station then get in the subway to Jukjeon station (2 stops). Walk to the other side of Shinshegae department store.
Dry Cleaning
Great prices and fast service. They also do mending, alterations, and plain old ironing. The street behind the local corner store. (Where you pick up the KIS bus).
Trails
There are many hiking trails behind the dong, one of which leads to KIS! Head towards the water tower.
